A long time ago in a galaxy right here, YouTube began testing a new look, based on material design. Recently, a few of Googe’s web services also got the new look (Google Contacts and Search). Now, it appears that the redesign is rolling out to YouTube as well:
The new design also seems to have ditched the old card-based design and settled for a much more refined solid background.
However, even if you’re still seeing the old version of YouTube in your desktop browser, there’s a method of forcing the new UI regardless. Here is how:
Open the Developer Console (usually by pressing F12)
document.cookie=”PREF=f6=4;path=/;domain=.youtube.com”; hit enter and reload the page.
YouTube has been making a ton of improvements since a few months now, mostly to improve the commenting system, video popularity and a lot more. Recently they’ve also decided to get rid of 30-second non-skippable ads by/from 2018.
Tell us what you think about the new design in the comments below!
